Hello All.
Done a search but can't find answers for my specific question so asking for your help.
I have a KJ GTV which was born with the 17 x 7 rim.
I'm going to fit a 20 x 7.5 rim 45 offset. I want to retain a 94 load rating (or more) to comply with the placard as this is an every day ride and I don't want any hassles.
To get the correct overall diameter to match the original tyre (225/50/17) in a 225 is 225/35/20.
The only tyre (in Australia) available in this size with the correct load rating is the Austyre. Unfortunately all the tyre retailers I've spoken to have given this tyre a bad rap.
So the next size is the 235/35/20. About 15mm more in diameter but still within Vic Roads guidelines.
Unfortunately in this size there is not one tyre available with correct load rating.
Next size is 245/30/20. Same diameter as original tyre. Yes! there is only one that complies - Nankeng with correct load rating.
Next size is 245/35/20. This will be about 7-8mm above the Vic Roads guidelines. In this size there are many, many brands available with the correct loading.

So this is what I need to know -
Is there anybody out there with 245/30/20 or 245/35/20 fitted to their 3rd gen?
If yes, on the front do you clear the strut tower? Do you scrape the inner guard when on full lock?
Please also advise rim width and offset so I can make an informed decision. I'm also on King lows.

Thanks for your time.

245/30r20's on 8.5 inch rim (not sure of offset) but I have clearance issues with the ralliart body kit. I'm looking at taking a few mm off the hub face of the rim to correct this at some stage

Ok, so not many 245mm tyres on 20 inch rims out there........

How about 245mm wide tyres on any size rim - being 17, 18 or 19 inch on a 3rd gen?

Again, what I need to know is;

Do you clear the strut tower? Do you scrape the inner guard when on full lock? Clear the rear control arm? Hang in the front guard? Required rear lip bent in?
Advise rim width and offset so it makes it easier to compare. I'm also on King lows.

i did 20k hard km on a magna with austyre 20's and it was also lowered a reasonable ammount

if your buying 20 you dont care about superior road holding ability and i can tell you that the are a decent tyre 100x better than the previous wanli tyres that were fitted

I've run 245/30, 245/35, 235/35, 225/30 and 225/35....

My preference is the 245/30's they are a good size, nice grip etc. I use achillies, they are a good tyre and reasonable price.. if your after grip and extreme handling you won't be going any where near 20's so what you want is something that wear's well and is good to drive on in all conditions..

20's are on my wife's car, I run 19 x 8 42pos offset 245/35r19 tyres king low/superlows on my vrx. The vrx flares have been cut to allow the bigger wheel/tyre BUT the body underneath is standard and does not rub on the struts or the outer gaurd.
