It started when my brother got a KS (v3000 over here in NZ) and it had a fluid leak from the auto and it took awhile to lock into gear when you selected it. anyway he put up with it for months then last week we decided to investigate the leak. we pulled the box out and the main seal was shot, i said i thought the torque converter was dodgy too, and the reason for the slipping etc. He decided to just do the seal, so we put the box back in. same probs were still there so he looked for a second hand box. We got one for $165, was in good condition and got to test it in the donor car first. anyway we put it in, but he didnt have enough money for more auto fluid, and since he had only bought the fluid for the old box a fewdays before, decided to drain that and use it in the new auto. The fluid was already dark and looked metallic, due too the slipping torque converter, and i said it wasnt a good idea to use it. he was too keen to be back on the road so put it in anyway. the new auto was perfect for about 30kms of driving, and then just dropped out of gear and wouldnt lock into any gear, reverse etc, and wont move. i double checked everything then we pulled the sump, and discovered the filter was black and clogged up. you could see the tiny particles of metal. Im guessing the oil he put in has clogged the filter up, and stopped flow therefore no drive. has anyone ever had a blocked filter stop drive? i have seen it happen in a old first gen. he is getting a new filter and oil to flushthe box tuesday. also i wont to know, his box seems to have an LSD fitted, i did the test of raising both wheels and turning one, they both turn the same way indicating an lsd diff. this is the test on rear wheel drives, so i assume it applies to fronts. i checked my KE and they turn opposite, and i know it has no lsd. Does anyone know if any second gens, specifically KS came with a factory lsd option? cheers guys!!

also we did the filter and fluid change and it locks into reverse perfectly, but still no drive, checked all connections , sensors, selector and no fix. it was working perfectly, no slip, changes were smooth, downshifts were smooth. then as he was driving it just dropped drive and there was no forward or reverse. the fluid fixed reverse, but no drive. Im assuming the blocked filter starved the trans and burned out the drive plates in the trans. anyone have any ideas??
