Hi Guys,
Bought my very nice KE Verada a short time ago, and was supplied 2 remotes with it.
One had been opened, the battery appeared to be "spot welded" to a strip soldered to the PCB.
Obviously I want to change batteries, the dealer handbook that came with the car says to prise
open the remote and simply replace the battery. Not going to happen in this case!
The remote is a single button unit, which I have seen on ebay for around the $100 mark. Please tell me that there is another way around this apart from spending $100 to replace a $3 battery!!!!
Thanks in advance.

They're not actually a servicable remote, so the only way you can change the battery is with your own handy work if you think you can manage. Mitsubishi's idea with these single button remotes was to just sell the owner a new one when the battery went flat. My old car had these.

Battery is spot welded onto the connections, a soldering iron won't work. Bin the remote (its meant to be a disposable unit) and just use the key. Battery in the remote has a lifespan of about 7 years, even if you never use it lol. OR try some wires soldered to the remote circuit board and attached to the battery with masking tape. It works, but may not be too reliable.

My KE Diamante (verada) remote is the 3 button one (lock, unlock, boot), did they come with some models and not others?? maybe just for NZ? mine was stuffed when i got the car but i lucked out and found a mint one in the boot of a JDM Diamante at pickapart. programmed it and was all good.

3 Button Remote was Xi only.

I have got an 97 verada EI (not sure if it a KE or KF) and its got a 3 button remote. so perhaps the 3 button remote was introduced after a certain year

3 Button remote is supplied for cars with the optional ETACS alarm system on the KE - XI got it standard.

TF/KF added remote boot release to all cars. the 3 button remote was used for TF/KF
