The screws on my 3rd gen head unit were done up so bloody tight I could only get 1/4 out. Despite my best efforts the other 3 burred. I'am totally at a loss how to get the bugger out now. It's hard to access the screws I can't drill them out. Any ideas?

which screws? the ones holding the headunit into the bracket or the ones holding the bracket into the centre console?
if it's the first ones, take the whole bracket out and you should be able to get a drill into it (although I'd be very careful if you're planning to re-use the headunit).
if it's the bracket screws, you might be able to get vice-grips on the heads of the screws.
cheers,

Get a hacksaw blade and cut the screws across the face to make a groove.
then use a BIG flat blade screwdriver to loosen it after heating up with a soldering iron.

cheers for replies. I ended up getting it out after hours of struggle. I sort of drilled the screws from the inside of the unit at an angle then used a hammer and long screwdriver. Alot of carefully directed force (lol) and it came out as a munted mess.

An Allen key would have worked well !
