Need help with advice ideas for swapping the T/B over.

Been searching through other single turbo magna's in and around these forums but I'd like specific info, pics, advice, ANYTHING really.
What is the easiest option?
What is the most efficient (powerful) setup?
How much? :D

Cheers!

p.s. I guess I should mention I'm single-turbo'ing my 3.0L. :)

Seems like the cheapest, easiest and most legitimate method I've seen to date.

Manifold is off a 6G72 DOHC engine, second gen orientation.

All I can offer is the 3000GT/Diamante DOHC intake manifold will bolt up.

Don't know if you've seen that or not but it just hits the brake master cyl

If you can alu weld or know someone who can, can probably make up an elbow or something in order for it to clear, best thing is, it looks factory. Well, once you make it work that is

Lucifer beat me to it.
ps i thought of the idea first :P

Fixed it for lucifer.

As posted above the twin turbo manifolds from the Mitsubishi GTO's are the way to go. They have a slight clearance issue on the rear rocker cover but have enough meat on them to shave off with a grinder. Th other ption is to buy a manifold spacer kit from RPW.

EDIT: I've been told that over in the states these are being used on some hi-po engines making up to 900hp so flow is not an issue.

Speak to [TUFFTR] about getting hold of one as he would have the best idea on who to see.

They come on the 1st and 2nd gen Diamantes as tuffy said.

No they don't.

The N/A ones do but they have massive clearance issues on the rear rocker cover due to the longer inlet runners. You need to get the GTO twin turbo inlet.

Correct. (Missed that NA/TT detail) you need the 3000GT/GTO TT Intake manifold.
try eBay.com, or sign up to www.3si.org (3000GT/Stealth international)

ahhh i see what you meant, i thought you were saying the throttle body was not on the drivers side on the jap spec N/A versions

okie dokie. I found a '94 3000GT Stealth Upper Intake Manifold on eBay from da States! Do you reckon I should buy the Lower Intake Manifold too or just leave it? Will it even bolt on (i'm not sure)?

I think I'll go ahead and order the Upper Manifold and then jump the next hurdle that gets in my way.

Thanks a lot for the info guys... and Tuffy, i'll be bugging you the most about this s**t. :D

EDIT: On closer inspection of the pic on eBay, the manifold only has "ECI MULTI 3000" stamped on it. Not "Twin Turbo". What do you guys reckon? Is this a TT manifold or not?

lower manifold is same as 3rd gens

Incorrect, Different stud spacing between the heads, I know I have tried :)
CRO@, nah mate, you need the twin turbo one. The NA ones wont clear the rear rocker cover. other best bet is to look in the yellow pages for Jap Import wreckers which is where I found my one.

Any more Q's ask away mate, but yes those ones you have listed will not fit correctly!

* all you need is the UPPER manifold which will bolt directly onto the lower mani of a 3rd gen.

Not quite, I tried the one I had here and was not a straight bolt on

Want to find another one for me, dude? I usually don't ask for other ppl to do the running around but I've been flat-out at work lately (I run my own Cafe) and I've got my engagement party tomorrow and me and me fiance are heading to QLD next weekend. So it's pretty hectic. Anyway TuffMan, lemme know. :D

Cheers.

The upper manifold bolting onto the lower manifold gasket is/was the same

the actuall LOWER intake manifold is different, but not that it matters, you just use your stock 3rd gen one.

Ned, Give me a few days, see what I can do for you pal.

Stupid question here - is the manifold and bolt patterns symmetrical? Can it be rotated 180 degrees so that it comes over the front bank of cylinders?
If it bolts on, your throttle body will be on the side you want, but at the front of the engine bay instead of back.
OK, that might make filling the engine with oil a bit difficult, not to mention closing the bonnet, but I thought I'd ask the question anyway :)

Simple answer. Can not be done.

Filling the engine with oil won't be a problem, just swap the tappet covers.

Bonnet clearance on the plenum would be though.

Quite interesting how it sits, looking it this it looks like the brake MC can be cleared and effectively flowed by creating a flanged 90' mandrel bent pipe and using a nut/bolt setup from the throttle body to the flange, or a threaded flange?
