Hi People,

I currently have a TN Wagon and have been offered a 2003 Magna Wagon TJ Series 2 EXC for $4000.

It has 180,000 on the clock is Semi Auto 4 speed (I guess thats what it's called) rego till Nov 2010 - it has a slight dent on the rear passenger side door and normal wear & tear scratches, paintwork is ok but needs a good cut & polish.

Does it sound like a good deal?? - and what should I be on the look out for problem wise.

Seems like an allright deal, have it checked by NRMA though, thats still a lot of brass.

That's an exceptional price if its in good nick. It's worth around $5800 so that's plenty of money to invest in new wheels and a
high flow exhaust and some good rubber.

Do the usual checks ... I'd say play plenty of attention to the transmission and the cooling system. Start saving for a timing belt in about 10,000 - 20,000 km's. Get all the fluids checked , once again particularly the transmission oil.

Check all the REVS stuff.

Thanks for the advise, any idea on the cost of doing the timing belt.

from what i've read you if you get it done by a mechanic you could be looking at anywhere from $600 just for the timing belt up to $1200 for the timing belt and 200000km service.

The timing belt is about $500 get quotes. Just set aside some money each week for maintenance. Hopefully this will be the only major item you have for the next couple of years. You can expect some wear on other components but keep up your basic maintenance and you should be right.

Just found out via REVS check that the car was a repairable write off so giving it a miss

Thanks to all
