Can anyone help me with this one.... takes off fine, changes to 2nd, then starts slipping and wont change into third. Eventually locks into 3rd. TCU gives codes 86, 52 and 54. Pulse generator checked ok.

try a similar Tranny computer for a start
from the repair manual
that is code 86 fault in TCU
codes 52 and 54 both say fault is pulse gen A
or slipping brake clutch
did you use mitsi tranny oil on the refill ?

I've only had the car 6 months and havnt touched the fluid other than checking level....... Put a new computer in about 4 months ago after last one failed ( no output from computer - dead)
Do you know if filter/fluid prob could cause this, or just try a new computer first?

What colour is the fluid, pinky/red is good - brown and looking like vanish smelling burnt is bad, if this is the case fluid and filter change insuring correct fluid is used as these auto's will self destruct quite quickly with the wrong fluid

Mate take it to a transmission place and get the fluid changed, they will actually pump the entire system with new fluid, Simply dropping and refilling will not do much, get them to do the filter and new gasket too and that should fix it buddy.
Money well spent!
