Hi guys,

looking very closely at a set of cheap VE Commodore SSV wheels to throw on my '05 380 VRX...

Would they fit =P? Perhaps also a rather more general question are alloys for Falcon/Commodore/380 interchangeable (they are all 5 spoke mags - although not sure about spacing differences)?

Looking for a cheap upgrade from the diabolically small 17" currently on there.. oh and I just got a nail in my tyre this morning which was the nail in the coffin.

Thanks for your speedy response guys..!!

I promise I'll contribute in more intelligent discussion in the future rather than sucking the knowledge out of the forum... =P

Cheers

Kurt

Nope.

Not the same stud pattern on both cars.

AU onwards Falcon wheels will fit, but no Commodore wheels will unless they're a multi-stud patterd design. 380s and Falcons use a 5x114.3 stud pattern whereas I believe the commodore uses a 5x120.something...

Depending on which ford wheels you get.

Yea pretty sure Falcon, Magna and Skyline wheels are interchange-able.

i was at the tire shop the other day and asked the same question with fat 380 (alex) and they said pretty much anything from japan will fit a 380 providing it has the 5 stud pattern obviously. As for holden he to like everyone here said straight up NO WAY. Theyd look sweet if they did but it wont happen

Silvias (S14 on? I think some S13s were 4 stud), Supras, 2WD Hiluxes and Camrys are also 5x114.3 afaik.

Like NORBY said, conditions apply. Lots of imports run staggered fitments (wider rims at the back), and the offsets can be pretty crazy. Not sure about 380s, but +35 is about the limit for a typical Magna.

AU Falcons onwards are 5x114.3 and around +38 offset. Prior to AU, they still used a 5x114.3 stud pattern, but the offset was around 0. With Falcons as well, you'll find that many aftermarket rims use a staggered fitment.

You may be able to run a staggered fitment - there's a few members with Magnas who have had 8.5" wide rims at the front and 9.5" at the rear - but I haven't seen anyone do it with a 380 yet. To me, it looks silly on a FWD car anyway.

Magnas and 380s also have pretty high load rating requirements for tyres, so even if you find a second-hand tyre and rim package, the load rating may be too low to remain legal.
