Hey Guys,
So, the other week I had my sagging roof lining re-trimmed and it came back looking like a new car again.
However, I believe in the process of taking out the old carpet and board and whatnot although Im not 100% sure if the backseat actually needs to be taken out for the trim pieces to be removed, I think the auto trimmer broke the locking mechanism for the backseat. The piece im talking about is the part that you pull when you want to take out the backseat cushion
I dont know if its model specific but for my KE, the locking mechanism designed by Mitsu is quite poor.
The piece is screwed in underneath the chassis, with the screw coming upwards. I dont know how the hell you can actually screw it back into there if I source a new locking mechanism.
I also went down to one of the wreckers in Sydney, and it seems that maybe Mitsu has changed the design of the locking mechanism since the KE?? I think I was looking at a TJ and the locking mechanism had no screw? So maybe it just pops in and locks in place now with some added grooves??? I dunno..(The guys at the wreckers were quite helpful but I dont think they have ever taken out that actual part and they were busy so I was just having a look myself)
So, at the moment one side of my backseat is loose and its starting to bug me.
Has anyone else came upon a broken locking mechanism, and what have they done? Would Mitsu spares actually stock this part?
Any help would be appreciated.
Cheers.
