i have two magna's at home (a tj and a th) and im only using one so i reset all the remotes to the tj. but now, whenever i use the remote, both cars go off and do the same thing. ive tried taking out the batter in the remote and then resetting it with the tj afterwards. still the same thing.
so weird.
any ideas anyone?
i fear this one might be so trivial it'll be embarassing.

Run through the remote assign procedure with the TH, but don't assign a remote. If that wont work, do the TE again and use the least used/backup remote.

yea that was a good call.
was excited for a second. tried it and still no gas. still works with both cars both remotes. so weird. i think im gonna have to unhook the battery in the th as a last resort tho id rather not do that.

Oh well, sorry to waste your time. Worth a shot though, we know better now:), ( thanks to you)
Wow...what are the chances of this happening? Its suppose to use a random rolling sequence to set the codes in such a way that the chances of getting two remotes from two cars working in sync is higher than a million to one. If you find out how you did it, let me know. But to answer your query, did you go through the re-programming sequence in both cars while pressing the remotes for re-programming as stated in the manual?

Ahh, this exact thing happened to me when I first bought my car. It only came with one key, but since dad works at a Mitsubishi dealership, he got a spare from the lost keys box.
I programmed it for my car, and somehow it also operated my mum's TL. When she was out, I reprogrammed the keys, and it got reset to only my car.
I just tested it then - I reprogrammed both my keys and it only works on my car.
I guess it was just a random thing. My advice is to just drive your car half way down the street, reprogram it there, and go back. If it still does both, do the same with the other car. Hopefully that will fix it. :ninja:

i tried running the car down the st and doing it there. and came back and its still doing the same.
i dun have a manual so let me clarify im doing this right. put the key in and turn the key on and off 5 times until the light flashes, then press the remote (flash), then press other remote (flash)
my hunch is that the remotes somehow remember the last code or so that was programmed into it and therefore wen i give it a new one, its still unlocking the old code as well.
what do u guys think?

Well in the TJ/TL you only do it three times, but I doubt it matters as long as the lights flash.
Did you try to reprogram the other car away from this one too? Other than that dude, I'm fresh out of ideas I'm afraid.

You will need to run through the procedure on both cars. It is the car that remembers which remotes are programmed.
So, with the TH, grab one remote and go through the programming sequence (DO NOT program the other remote)
With the TJ, grab the other remote and go through the programming sequence. (DO NOT add any other remotes)
Now each car will only work from the assigned remote.
Make sense?

Hi I am new to this, but I reset one car and the other car picked up the coding, could it be that the cars were to close and it picks up the siginel

I had the same thing with my TJ and AWD TL
The good thing is once I unlock both cars and go to drive off in one, the other locks itself after 30 seconds or so if noone opens any doors.
In the end i sold it off with another fob, and it stopped the dual unlock
two of my 380's had the same mechanical locks...door, ignition and glovebox...and after programming both worked on both cars.
one was series 1 and the other was series 3.

I have deliberately programmed one key fob to both my Magnas. As Madna 3.5 says, there's no security issue because once you drive off in one car the other will automatically lock if no one opens the door within 30 or so seconds. I did this for convenience so I only have to carry one fob on the keyring.

Do tell how you achieved this, very interested.
