Hey all, I am wondering if anyone can help me.

I am looking at buying a set of rims off of my mate, they were on his skyline so I know the stud pattern is the same, however I am unsure of the offset and width, and am wondering if there is any way of working it out. At the moment he has 235/45/R17 Tyres on the rims and he has stretched 225's on these rims before.

I tried to fit the rim earlier today, but my standard wheel nuts wouldn't fit the rims, so I couldn't lower the car to make sure they cleared everything. The thing that worries me is that when I had the wheel sitting on the hub, the tyre was (only just) fouling up with the curvey metal arm inside the guard ( not sure what it's called, but it is above the tyre inside the arch and attatches to the brake assembly)

Any help would be much appreciated.

Thanks, Charlie

Sounds to me the offset is wrong.
You can normally find the offset and width on the inside of the rim either on the spokes or the hub face.

Well I just went to have a look and I think I have found some usefull info.

The inside of one of the spokes has the following:
17-9 +45
which I'm guessing is 17inch rim, 9 inches wide and offset +45.

My next question is will these fit/ is there any way to make these fit, and I don't mind stretching tyres to make them fit

Not going to fit without spacers, which are illegal. The arm your talking about is the upper control arm. It's the rear upper control arms you will have issues fowling.
The widest factory alloy is 7" wide, 45 offset.
As you go wider in rim width you need to go to a smaller offset pushing the whole wheel further out towards the guards.
Largest rims that will fit a Magna are 8" wide +35 offset. +38 is ok too. This puts the tyres close to level with the front guards without sticking out and will clear the rear upper control arms.
If you have wheel arch flares you can get away with 8.5" wide +30 offset.
No one that I know of here has been able to fit a 9" rim and keep it within the guards.
Fortunately 8" wide +35 is a popular Ford Falcon offset so there is a good range of wheels available to choose from.

yeah mate, everything from the AU Falcon (I think) onwards had this offset and the same stud pattern as the Magna.

Yeah you can fit those nice BF XR6 rims on a magna...check out lucy's old ride - they look great...had I not been offered the rims I have for dirt cheap I would've bought them....maybe even those typhoon ones
