Does anyone know what's required to kit out a TE for remote entry? What's best - mitsu stock or after-market?

I heard a rumour that the TE loom will cater for it as it is. If this is true, then it should be possible to 'plug and pray' a Altera system?

Thoughts on this after-market system - http://www.carbonblack.com.au/buy-car-parts/security/rcxi-remote-keyless-entry---basic-immobiliser-system-282.aspx?

Thanks a heap.

Yeah dude, the TE exec came with the single button ("peanut shaped") Remote, and mitsu will sell you one and you program it yourself. i think it's something like turn key from Off to Acc 3 times then click the button and it's tuned to your cars frequency. But should come with instructions.

ps. From what i've been told don't get a remote off eBay not sure of the mitsu prices but ebay are asking something like double the price.

PSS. Just ducked outside to test how to reprogram the remote, it is "click from off to ACC 3 times your hazards will flash once then you press the button"

Awesome! Thanks ppl. Have just ordered one from mitsu (2 key job). The local dealer here would like to extract $65 for the remote and $75 for the 'programming'. Think I'll pass on the programming somehow ;)

Yeah, thats about the going rate for the remote, $75 for the programming is a rip though! lol When I bought my remote, the lady came out and did it for free!

Here's what I discovered today:

There is a single button remote - program by turning ignition to On and pressing the button (so the book says).

There is a 2 button remote (saw it at the dealers, no idea how to program but I guess it's the same as above).

There is a 3 button remote - program by turning the ignition from Acc to On 3 times (finishing on On) and pressing the button (via the book).

Did you push the remote button asap after the lights flash? Failing that, battery could cactus or your remote stuffed.
