Hey...
I have no idea when it comes to Car audio so please no laughing...
At the moment I have a Amp, Monoblock, Sub and speakers all running from my Head unit..
I want to take out the sub and monoblock... Is it just a matter of disconnecting every lead that runs to them?? Will I have to take the headunit out as well??? I want all leads and stuff out that runs them.
Also... silly i know... but could I get shocked..?? Should I just disconnect the battery first before doing any of the stuff?
I'm aware that Carpet removal will be on the cards but I just need some peoples advice before I dive in and ruin everything.
Cheers
Rob.
If you dont need the cables, you could disconnect them in the boot (assuming thats where your amp and sub is) tape the ends and tuck the ends under the carpet, make sure you disconnect the power from the battery first though. I dont think there is much risk of shock with dry hands and 12v, but the power cable (+) touching the car body (-) will probably cause it to melt/catch fire. Also makes it easier to put them back in when you miss the bass.
Removing cables you should be able to leave the head unit in and just take the plastic around it off, reach around behind it and unplug the RCA leads to the amp (if it is using RCA's)

Would the Monoblock be running from the amp?? if so I should just disconnect it from there right?
I really wanna pull the big ugly cable and what ever the plastic box is near the engine that powers everything... I hope though that it doesnt power the head unit otherwise im in trouble lol.
Try disconnecting the cable and then see if the head unit still works before you take it all the way out. You could always take it to a place that sells and fits car audio and they may be able to help?

Should be able to disconnect the battey then take out every wire thats connected to that amp.
The power wire will need to either be tapped up or completely removed from the distrobusion block so it doesnt come into contat with the car bodu and short something out
Would tap up the RCA's to be safe but they should be ok
I'm not too sure what you mean when you talk about the monoblock.
A Monoblock is a single channel amplifier.
Mostly this removal should be easy for someone that's done an install before.
There could be some fun parts about speaker wiring - if you have a separate amplifier and a monoblock, then the amplifier is probably running your front and/or rear speakers.
If that's the case, then those speakers will need to be reconnected to the head unit's internal amplifier or else keep the amplifier.
Are you able to go to one of the DIY days? See if there'll be someone there to help & advise and hopefully you'll be right.
If you're in the hills, I'd be happy to have a look and at least give you a better idea of what you'd be in for, doing it yourself.
Cheers, Graham.
