View Full Version : What subs to get?
ralliart

Hi all, i have a ralliart magna and am wanting to purchase some subs.
In my previous car (commodore) i had 2x10" CVR competition kickers. They were TO bassy.. bloody things shook the whole car apart (literally) but never the less huge clean bass
I am seeking some advice on some good quility subwoofers that arn't TO bassy but are very clear and crisp sound. I have been told Rockford Fosgate "punch" subwoofers are a decent woofer.
Can anyone recommend a decent setup? (sub + amp)
I was also wondering if its possible to mount a 10 or 12 inch sub in between the 6x9 in the rear of the ralliart? has anyone done this before?
cheers.

Hey Man,
2x10" too bassey for you lol? I had a 12" Kicker CVR which wasnt bassey enough for me....(Which would have been a little quieter than your 10's but not by much...)
Maybe try looking for subs with less power handling? I know my kicker was 400wrms, dunno about the 10's but thats still a decent whack of power for somebody who doesnt want much bass...
Pretty sure the Punch p1 use 150wrms, so thats probably what you want, but still depends on what size your going for? (10", 12" etc?)
You should talk to Joe from Shopping Secure (our sponser), He might be able to help you out and I know he has some quality subs....
Edit: Does you ralliart have the metal cutout on the parcel shelf where a 10" could go? If so you could whack a free-air sub in there...They dont give out too much bass, but probably perfect for what your looking for..

hey, yeah they might have been 12 not sure. They were round with orange writing in the middle saying CVR but my god these things were immense bass.. when i turned them up loud i could feel the bass in my throat and it would make me cough... I have since grown up a little now and not wanting head thumping bass i want clear sound with a decent hit of bass :) Im not sure weather it has a metal cut out but i would love a neat little sub in between the factory 6x9's.
sweet i will try get onto him cheers mate.
Pretty much i dont want bass that's going to shake my car apart and especially not vibrate the ralliart spoiler (man that would do my head in)
cheers.

Shelf mounted sub.... nah
Go for a Single 10 inch Sealed.. Mount it forward facing through the ski port and you shouldnt have any Wing Vibrations.
