hi guys
new member hear, im a mazda man myself but my wife has a tr v6 with about 175k on the clock.
some history on the car
- used to leak a crap load of oil from rocker covers, the vents were blocked and pulled of intake and cleaned up and reassembled no more leaks
-leaks got into the starter and fried it, replaced
- had a ticking noise and lent on the cam belt cover while listening ( sticky lifter) when it grabbed the rubber seal and pulled it through the belt and put the front bank out 2 teeth. So my 15 min oilchange turned into a 4 hr timing belt realignment.
Lately it have had a slight miss while driving, so far i have replaced
- plugs
-leads
-dizzy cap
-dizzy rotor
-fuel filter
-liqumoly injector cleaner
-transmision fluid (was long over due)
seemed to fix the problem
The coil still seems to have a nice spark
But today i drove the Mrs car to work as i was working on mine, drove to work fine this morning but on way home it was a total pig, missing, backfiring, wouldn't rev, and no power, managed to get to servo and topped up fuel as it was fairly low thinking tanks could have rubbish in it
still no avail, puled off the afm plug and it ran fine, back on and pig again, i understand the ecu is now in a limp mode and sucking a heap of fuel. But i got home.
Now the question i have is.. has anyone else had this problem? i sprayed it with contact cleaner and no avail.
Is there a way to test the afm?
Ive spent a bit of money on it over the last 6 months and got new disks and pads ready to go on, so i don't really want to get rid of the car, but its starting to give me the ####s and the Mrs is on my back about wanting new car etc etc. (its her only car shes had for about 6years now). i would like to get the car driving good again so i can use it as a daily.
