Can the TJ2 antenna be fitted to the TJ1?

I've had a quick look & apart from the plugs being different, there's 3 wires in the series 2 whilst only 2 in the series 1 - (an extra black one in the series 2.) Assuming I can get hold of the correct plug, what does the extra wire do & where do I connect it?

Also, Does anyone know the part number for the tongue of the TJ towbar? I've got the actual towbar mounted but have noe tongue/ ball. It's a factory towbar.

Try a WTB for the tow-bar tongue - in the good ole days that the Mitsi Clearance centre existed in Adelaide, tow-bar tongues were available for $20-00.
I got one for myself (and NO you cannot have it)..... however, maybe some of our esteemed members in Adelaide and surrounds have a stash.

If you have a VIN for your car, the Mitsi Spares clowns "may" be able to find the part without you providing step-by-step directions (sorry, my rant, have all sorts of grief getting even the simplest stuff). Otherwise, many auto spares places will have compatible towbar tongues - from memory they are at least $85 - $100.

There are only 2 sorts of Factory Antenna

8 pin and 3 pin

There needs to be on the 3 pin
Power
Trigger
Earth

The 8 pin also has the half height function but your car would not have that. I would say you are either not looking at the correct plug or your antenna is not factory for some reason. When you come up next I will have a look at it and tell you what you have

It's definitely a 2 pin plug, but I'll have a look tomorrow to see if one wire has been taped away to make it fit a 2 pin rather than 3 pin plug. Side by side the 2 antennas look nothing alike.

Yeah, I've got a TJ2 one here, went to fit it & saw the differences. Just left it at that. Will spend a bit more time tomorrow looking at it......
