this is what i have to play with so far i think i need the help of a mega car audio guru here.

JVC KD G455 (1 rca output)
JVC CS V6932 6 x 9's
Alpine type s two ways
Alpine MRV F307 4 channel amp
alpine type s 12 in sub

what i wanted to do was to run my four speakers off the amp that i have and then run a couple of extra RCA's down to the back of the car so when i buy another 2 channel amp i could run my sub of it. mmmmm. problems............

my amp has a speaker level input plug.... could i run the wires straight from my H/U into this plug and not use RCA's at all????? and then use the RCA's on the H/U to go to another amp later on for my sub..................can i use the rca's and the speaker wires on the headunit at once or is it one or the other????

Another thing i've been wanting to do is integrate my car kit with the stereo but i have learned that it is quite complicated because you have to use relays and stuff which are prone to failure and can alter sound quality....so consequently i chose not to do that and i thought i would just connect the car kit up to it so it just mutes the stereo, but to my suprise the headunit doesn't seem to facilitate this, it only has an accessory wire that is for a power antenna mmmmmm what to do.

i am considering returning the headunit and 6 x 9 's (they were a package for about 340 bucks a good deal i thought) and buying an alpine headunit possibly a CDA 9805 it has three rca outputs which i could use for my fronts, rears and sub i think this would solve my probs. Does any body know what sort of mobile phone functions this unit does or doesn't have????? I think i would get the alpine type s 3 way 6x9's to compliment this.

I bet i have really hurt some heads with this babble any help would be appeciated.

Thanks.

Yes, you can use the speaker level outputs from your HU with the amp if it has the appropriate inputs (which it does), but from what I can gather, it's better to use the Line Level RCAs. And you can also use both the RCAs and the speaker outputs at the same time.

A user here called FHRX can probably answer your questions about the Alpine gear and which HU suits your sound and phone questions. But IMHO, go the Alpine - you won't be disappointed. Plus, you get three RCA outputs, one of those is gonna be a Sub output which means a Sub level control in the HU - talk about convenience.

What we aim for when setting up high end systems is for the sound to envelop you. To do this you need most of your power at the front (with acurate staging) because your ears face forwards and you're sitting at the front of the car. Obviously if we could, we would have the subwoofer at the front too.

So with that in mind, I recommend you run channels 1 and 2 into your front speakers and bridge channels 3 and 4 to run your subwoofer. Run the rear speakers off the deck for now. This gives you the best sound at the front where you are (the sub at the rear is crossed quite low so you cannot tell where the sound is coming from). :)

I would definately choose the deck with the more RCA outputs but remember you can also install an inline fader adapter (http://www1.jaycar.com.au/productView.asp?ID=AA0485&CATID=&keywords=fader&SPECIAL=&form=KEYWORD&ProdCodeOnly=&Keyword1=&Keyword2=&pageNumber=&priceMin=&priceMax=&SUBCATID=) too if you only have one RCA pre-out. :)

A quick note on high / low level transfer of audio signals; rememeber this doesn't just refer to the aural music signal, it also refers to the interfierance and auible hiss and whine too. When possible always stick with the low level signal transfer (RCA). High level tends to transfer too much external (non musical) interfierance... :(

thanks guys i took the jvc gear back this arvo and bought an alpine CDA 9827 and a pair of type R 6x9's i have all my rca's now yay. My plan i think i might run all my speakers of my 4ch amp and i'll just run the rca for the sub to the boot and let em sit there for a while (i still have to get an amp for the sub and i need to build a box for it too)

I got the dash apart now alot easier than people made out.....i still have to get it back together now should be fun. Just need to work out the wiring now i think i saw a post on it earlier i will do a search. This alpine H/U has an audio interrupt for the phone too i think there might be a wire already in the car that goes from the stock headunit to the plug under the centre console, a job for the multimeter i think.

I guess i'd better soldier on for now see yous soon

i can't seem to find a good post that describes what each wire is in the standard TJ wiring loom, i wish mitsubishi put it on to of the player like normal people if anyone can help it would be great.
