i have a symbol come up on my climate control display that is A.P with and arrow going through a square. im assuming it means Air particulate as in a filter blocked. Anyone seen this symbol? even the local dealership has no idea!

Seems like the pollen filter needs changing or maybe blocked. If u have a Japan import u might have to source sumthing overseas

Pics? Just for sake of interest - and to see how different your JDM/export version is to our Aussie ones.

My dad was recently given an early 80's Toyota Crown by some neighbours (he has one a year or two earlier than the one gifted).... this Crown has dual (front/Rear) Air-con, including face vents to rear blowing from above rear doors, and it has all the area in boot between spring-towers blanked off and some "air purifier" unit in there, apparently.

Perhaps you could try some of the US-based Diamante owners, see if they have the glovebox Operators Manual for their cars - 0r try that RayReece site (had an online parts-locator application, I think).
EDIT: I tried a Google search on "mitsubishi diamante pollen filter" with a few hopeful results, some I could not access from work. For an Eclipse, it says filter is behind glovebox, not sure how similar an Eclipse is. Were other results too.

cheers mate, visually from the exterior the climate control panel is the same as a verada one, underdash is similar apart from the servo on side of box above ecu area is different, doesnt have that annoying bar that slips and stops it changing from dash to windscreen.

I don't think you'll get fault codes from anything but the automatic A/C system to display on the climate control panel. and heck I don't think even then the faults from the A/C ecu are displayed on there. Normally you'd need a MUT-II to read them. There is no way for the A/C ecu to know the status of anything other the condenser fan relay (and effectively radiator fan relays), so there is no way it could be reporting it through that screen. The common point between the A/C ecu and the engine ecu (which would give the fault code?) is a dual pressure switch for the before mentioned condenser fan relay. There is also another common point in the MUT-II connector in that the A/C ecu and the engine ecu share the same pin on the connector. This is on our aus magna/verada anyway but I wouldn't expect your car to be different to ours in that respect. I physically soldered in the climate-control function into my manual A/C so I am familiar with the circuit.

Our workshop manual states to reset the fault remove the NEG from battery so you could try there. If it goes away then leave it at that I would think but if it remains then I'd follow it up.

Out Outlander has the pollen filter. I'll check our manual tonight for fault codes. From memory the pollen filter is somewhere near the glove box as the instructions include removing the glove box. This is for the Outlander which also may apply to the D. Anyhow, as for the AP fault code, it may come on purely on a timed basis much like the service reminder. Our house climate control shows the return vent filter requires cleaning purely based on how long it has been since it was last done.

Could you take a photo and post us the link. I'll check the trouble shooting guide.
