Hey guys,

How do you actually tighten the alternator belt, as my car has developed the 1200RPM cold groaning sound.....

before you say that i should search... i have!

all i cold find is that you undo one bolt then tighten the other up then retighten the first bolt, now ive looked at the Workshop Manual and there seems to only be one bolt?

can someone that has actually done this on a 3.5L TJ please let me know how to do this so i dont screw it up...

Thanks guys!

hey mate i've never actually done it but the image below shows that you loosen the nut on the pulley then there should be a bolt to adjust the tension. hope this helps

As said here, if the belt is too old and you over-tighten it it may fail. So if it's on the older side (or you don't know), grab a new one from Bursons or where ever you go and change it. Cheap insurance. ;)
