I am doing a mod to my trippy and replacing the button shifter with a manual one that operates on a sliding rail to actuate the shift. What I need to know is on TJ or similar manual models what the toptal height is of the shift kob above the floor console. The Auto is approx 145mm from the gear surround to the button. With the mod the lowest I can get the shifter (only thoeretical in drawings at the moment) is 175mm. What is it on your cars. Too high and it will look stupid too low and I have to cut the shift button stem (don't want to have to do this).
Thanks in advance.

Like to get a response on this.
If anyone has a 3rd Gen Manual, what is the distance from the console to the shifter?

Between 140 and 145.
Sorry, can't be more precise than that without a spirit level and better eyes. :D

No that is great mate. The drawings are done two options one max height 135mm the other 160mm. They both shift down 15mm (that is the max travel of the unlock slider) to change from P to the other gears, shift down 7mm to shift from N to R, and of course you don't need to push down to shift from R to N, N to D, D to Trippy, Up and down the gears in trippy.
Yay:D Just need to make up the two parts, test and evaluate and then publish the mod to the forum.
