View Full Version : Front left wheel bearings - still safe to drive?

After having new tyres put onto the car last weekend, I discovered it pulled to the left when I backed off from acceleration, more noticably when sitting over 80k/hr let alone on the freeway doing 100k/hr. The tyre guys took a look at the alignment but it was fine, until they put her up on the hoist and checked the wheels. They discovered the passanger front wobbles quite nicely, not a huge amount but enough that I could get it to move.

How much does it generally cost to have wheel bearings replaced and more importantly how cautious should I be driving it until it is replaced? After reading the How To instructions in other posts there's no way I'll try to do it myself.

Not safe to drive at all.

The Tightarse Tuesday method would be a s/h hub assembly from the wrecker.
