Getting my auto powerflushed tomorrow. First time I reckon in 70k.
Let you know if I notice any difference, although I have no issues at the moment.

May I ask how much this is costing you? Where abouts are you getting it done?

Had the auto powerflushed today.
Cost me $290 as they apparently used more fluid than they estimated. 12 litres.
Only drove a short way from the garage but the changes appear smoother and quicker (placebo effect)?

By the way; what is the reccomended transmission flush/service interval?

I had mine done at "Fluiddrive" In North Geelong, they used 20 litres, gave it a service and charged me $260 inc GST.

Absolutely no difference, in feel, sound etc...

The recommended procedure for 3rd gens is to have 3 bottles of fluid on-hand, which is 15 litres. Uisng 12 litres is about right...... this allows old oil to be flushed out of all the galleries in the box (reason why moving gear-selector during flush is req'd - allow fresh oil into all "circuits" and solenoids etc) as well as being pumped out of the torque-convertor and the lines to radiator cooler. Sounds like you maght have got the job done the right way, in any case.

I'm curious as to why people don't go to their local mitsu dealer?

Is it due to price, or distrust, or getting a better job done elsewhere, or any other reason?

I would say it's not placebo effect. If the fluid was discoloured, it's very likely with fresh transmission fluid, that the gearbox is changing much smoother and more direct.

The book probably states 100k. Suggested intervals would be 45k at most, and more like 25k under severe conditions such as a lot of city driving or towing.

My local Mitsi dealer is great but a fair way away.
My regular Garage which I have used for 15 years is however even better and 5 mins away

I had a full "powerflush" done at my mitsubishi dealer middle of last year (joint mitsu/holden service centre) and it set me back $175. What was done you ask? dropped and changed the oil that came out, not a proper flush. Completely ripped off, ah well...I realise the price should have been a clue as to what they meant by "flush" but she clearly stated a full gearbox flush.

Plus many other niggles that they just try and avoid. I'm not bagging them by the way, I just find servicing is more one on one with private service centres...and the price is usually cheaper. And knowing guys in the trade helps. heard a few nasty things about Dealer service centres

I remember hearing things about only using special Mitsubishi trans oil, which doesn't sound right, is this an issue at all?

I did my 2nd drain and top up with Amsoil Uni-Syn ATF, the transmission can never be smoother

After driving around for a few days now, my transmission is definitely smoother and the tippy appears quicker.

The trouble when sending your car in to get any "minor" service work done at a dealer is that it is generally done by the apprentice. This can be ok most of the time but you are still charged a premium price for the work to be done. For my $$ I would rather go to a specialist who deals solely in transmissions and not risk it . Heard too many horror stories. Plus you are generally talking to the guy who is going to do the work on your vehicle instead of the service manager who doesn't perform any mechanical role with your vehicle (but should be pointed out is more than likely an experienced mechanic too).

As long as it is SPIII rated it should be fine.
