Hey lads,
Im not an audio buff in the car world, but I do like my sound out of the car!
Anyway, looking to do a simple setup for my wagon... this would include putting some 6"s into the front holes (with the door cutout of course) and a new head unit (radio cassette atm, ftw!!!)
So, my problem consists of:
I want to put perhaps some 6x9's in the back, but I am not sure where? the downfall to this is that I still want to have the option of folding down my seats. I am thinking...
-Under the rear seats
-At the top of the rear passenger pillar
-on either side next to the boot door
-on the boot door?

Just searching for ideas here.

let me know!

Cheers,
Pickles

Mount them on the sides closest to the tailgate. Use the biggest speakers you can find, like 6 X 9 s, nothing smaller. As you lose a lot of treble from the back, your front speakers have to be good quality, with the rears adding to the bass. Some people put a sub into the space where the spare wheel sits, but this needs an amp. I've got 4" in the front doors and 6 X 9s in the back, sounds reasonable.

Upper level TS wagon models had speakers mounted in the roof near the tailgate hinges. Have a look at the wreckers, if you can find one, you have to run the wiring through the roof behind the lining, and you need the speakers, mounting plates, screws and covers from a wreck. No idea if this sounds reasonable though.

Agree with MadMax, In the TS Wagon, we had the rear speakers mounted in the side panels in the rear wagon area near the tailgate/boot door.
We should have gone for 6x9's for bass but had a set of 6.5" splits available at the time so went with that. The two subs in the rear have fixed any lack of bass now anyway.

The KS Verada's had the speakers in the roof but I haven't heard any good reports from that posy.

I took a photo of the boot lining near my boot hinges... the oval outlines are coming out of the flat surface, and appear to be the same material as the rest of the lining. Could it be possible that this is the upper model lining afformentioned? If so I could merely cut out a portion of it, put in the speakers and go from there ( I might need to support it a bit better or something ) Any advice is good!

Mate there is a KS rada wagon at the wreckers and I'll be going there saturday. If you want me to get the pods let me know. I'd always opt (trust me been there done that) for the standard option.

Either that, or put them in the tailgate.

Sounds good!
What do you mean by the standard option? as in just leave it?
I agree there, but I would like 4 speakers as the two 4" at the front are nothing :P
Are the pods specific to the place they go? If so then yeah I would probably like them!

Cheers

Positive they have speaker pods in the back on the roof. That would look nice and factory! is your interior dark grey or blue? The rada was grey that's all.

I meant factory as in using the speaker pods. Not just drilling them into the roof or tailgate. I would also use the KS speaker pods in the front too (or elite if you have a blue interior)

Yeah, I have the blue interior...with the light grey roof lining. If you could grab the pods I would be more than happy to pay you for them PP :) I guess I will try and find an elite and get the door cards/pods for the front 6"'s in the door.
