Regarding my TJ Advance 2 wheel drive wagon...
After replacing the battery yesterday, I saw this #5 flashing away on the little centre display and pressed the mode / speed alarm, up and down buttons and it changed from flashing#5 , to 3.5 and then dissapeared. Was I surposed to set it to my cars specifications ? Like "wagon" "2 wheel drive" etc, or will just the 3.5 be okay alone as the only setting and to leave the rest as is ? If I need to change it to 2wheel drive and to wagon, how do I get the screen back up to make these adjustments and how do I actually make the adjustments ?

These settings are mainly to work out fuel consumption etc. 5/S stands for sedan and LJ stands for wagon. 3.5 and 3.0 represents the capacity of the engine.
To change a value, press the mode button for less than 2 seconds. Pressing for more than 2 seconds locks in the setting and beeps.
The set code can be checked by holding the mode button and turning the key to ACC.
As for resetting, you can either lift the IOD connector for 5 seconds with the ignition in lock position or just disconnect the batter -ve for 5 seconds.

Okay. Thanks for that. I just checked and it reads 3.5 which my car is. So it will be fine to leave it like that and the car will run fine ?
I was under the impression that these settings determined the correct fuel map for the 3 or 3.5 litre ? So your saying this setting is meerly for fuel economy readings on that little centre display and has nothing at all to do with fuel mixtures between the 2 different capacity engines ? Thankyou for your information.

Just hold down the mode button and it will display 3.5. hold it down again and screen will go back to normal.:)

You have a wagon with a different sized tank than a sedan so selecting sedan may give wrong distance to empty reading etc.

I think you mean TH 3 litre Look at my first post for instructions. Basically, do not use the up/down arrow buttons. Only use the mode button. Pressing the mode button (for less than 2 seconds) will first swap between S and W. So, if you have a sedan then press the mode button until the S (which looks like a 5 appears) and then press and hold the mode button (more than 2 seconds) until it beeps. It will now show the capacity, which will change between 3.0 and 3.5. Again, pressing the mode buttons swaps between them and pressing and holding the mode button will lock in the selected one and beeps.

thanks Vlad , i thought mine was TJ , i'll recheck the compliance plate. so there are only 2 settings , Sedan or Wagon and 3.0 or 3.5? should be easy then.

Well I don't think TJs came in 3.0. You also state you have a TH in your profile. Does it have a beaked bonnet separating the grill?
The AWDs have different settings.

Hi , no beak in bonnet so must be TH . i know its a 2000 model but will recheck. i'm not 100% familar with Magnas as yet , our other family car is a 1994 Delica , V6 3.0 engine , 4wd 7 seat import.

My 2002 TJ Magna have issues that I am not able to resolve. The interior lights and the central locking remote have stopped working. I have checked the entire fuse and can not see any fuse blown out.
The centre display is flashing 5 when I key in for the ignition. I can get my odometer by pressing mode button but it is goes back to flashing 5 once the key is removed. Also noted the headlight warning is not working if car is locked and lights left on.
I believe that some kind of electric short connection or wiring is causing this but not sure where to look.
Any suggestion or head start would be really helpful in resolving the issue.
Many Thanks!

Sounds like you've blown the constant 12 volts fuse/relay. Have you checked the fuses with a multimeter? I've had fuses look perfectly fine, but have actually been blown.

There's a fuse in the fuse box under the hood, which causes this problem, its in the yellow squares. its a bugger to lift the square up, but the faulty fuse is there.
Pretty Sure thats the issue.
