View Full Version : Re bubbles in oil on dipstick TP Magna
My son first noticed bubbles in the oil on his Magna when I asked him to check the oil and I have noticed it on 1 or 2 other occasions. Has anyone had this problem before? Coldamus under heading fuel pump found it was the charcoal filter and someone I think Mad Max said that you can get charcoal in the oil I wonder if that is what has happened on my sons car. Any help appreciated.

in my experience bubbles have indicate a few different things. i had a tractor with a blocked crankcase breather that resulted in massive crankcase compression that caused the oil to peculate, eventually leading to the dip stick being blown out of its tube with a heap of oil. if there is a milky residue as well then it is likely to have something to do with the head gasket. another thing that happens to mower engines (a bit different i know but same principal) is when the rings get tired excessive combustion mixture leaks down into the block and causes oil to bubble out the breather tube.
i may be way off track, but ide suggest checking those few things so you can eliminate them
hope it helps a little but im no expert

Thanks Jay. No its not milky I know that's a head gasket problem. Bubbles are just air in oil I assume.
I did run the car for awhile with the air cleaner off and the tube connected to the top of the rocker cover was off
which may have caused it or maybe I had connected one of the emission control tubes up wrong at some stage and
may have blown air into crankcase. There is no bubbles now so hopefully I have everything connected right now.
