my car has a bit of freeplay in it. maybe 3-5mm either side of centre. reading the workshop guide, it says 30mm is the limit. i assume this means 15mm either side.
this doesnt have any related knocking noises, or wandering issues, so i'm fairly confident that all suspension components are good. also there arent any real kickback feelings being transmitted through the wheel, except on the most cobbled roads, on very gentle steering angles. even then it is barely perceptible.
my ts had no freeplay, and i dont think any other rack and pinion cars i've owned have either.
do the 3rd gen magnas have a small amount of freeplay in them.
are there any obvious things i can check? i looked at the first 8 pages from a 'steering' title search and nothing mentions this. i doubt most people would even notice the feeling, but i always seem to be able to.
thanks.
