As i dont want to go through the hassle of making a board/panel up to mount the amp....
(meaning, dont know how to do it well enough...lol )

Can i make up a " tray " for the amp to sit on and bolt up to the underside of the rear parcel shelf..??

I realise that the amp needs to sit right way up and not upside down as such, hence, the tray/shelf idea.

If it is possible, what should i make it up with....Alluminium,steel,brackets from Bunnings to suit...:io:

Just tek screw it into the parcel shelf mate, had one there for 14 years no problems (well, granted it's a small amp)

All really depends on the heatsink but you should be fine.

what...upside down....hardly going to sit "flush"with all the bumps and dips there......

......though,four long bolts and lots of nuts to hold each one captive might work...mmmm

Ive got a massive sherwoood amp that had been tek screwed up there for 6 years with no issues. Its got fans in it though so moving heat aint an issue.

Aren't we talking about structural changes to the parcel shelf here if your suggesting screwing into it? I mean, your essentially putting holes in it by doing so.

If your trying to save space, have you considered under the front seats? Both my amps are under the front seats, no cooling issues there nor leg room issues if they're not huge amps.

4 screw holes is hardly classed as structual changes. If so screwing into the floor under the seat would be structual changes to the car too.

Except you don't need to screw into anything under the seats. I've found automotive velcro to the carpet works easily well enough, they're an absolute bitch to move once in place.

I drilled and tapped holes in some 10mm thick steel bars, the bars are screwed into the parcel shelf and the amps are screwed into the bars (upside down). I still think it was too much mucking around and if i had to do it again id probably go under the front seats.

Just looked into it, screwing into the parcel shelf is considered a structural change and deems the car unroadworthy, as it creates a weak point. So, might seem small, but it does create a structural issue and if your caught with it like that it'll be a major issue getting it cleared (if you even could?). I'm not saying don't do it, but stop and think about the possible implications if you plan on it.

Ouch, i always heard that screwing into it is fine, as long as you dont drill excessive holes or large holes (e.g. extra speaker cutouts, or heaps of holes to make it like a grille with a speaker underneath)

I would go with under the front seat if you want fit it, it makes running cables cheaper !

Where did you look..? i would be rather interested. There would be many other major unroadworthy things about your car other than 4 small screws in the rear shelf.

also interested where you read that, fitted many amps to the bottom of the parcel shelf over the years without issue

I've got mine cable tied to the floor under neath of the front seats (speaker amp and sub amp), been there for a few years and no problems as all

Its common sense not to mount an amp upside down... Hot air rises..
In SOME amps this can be a source of thermal-ling out or not performing to the maximum benefit..
There are options to mount the amp the side of the boot wall and run cabling behind the panels.. its a bit of a time consuming job but can be done..

Im not running any special amps that have thermal flows to pull air in with rising heat etc, just some whatever was cheap/free at the time amps. Hot day, cold day, start up or warmed up they just have pretty average performance, but i didnt have anywhere else in the boot to mount them, and i already have stuff under my seats.

Although i dont think they should be mounted under the parcel shelf, if you are to do it make sure you mount them as close to the back seats as possible so if for someone reason a cop was to look in they wouldnt pick it would. Also if you know how to wire some PC Fans up they can come in handy to circulate the air.
