Yesterday my 7/91 Verada stopped and would not restart. My mechanic diagnosed it as a failed ECU. When we removed it I found that it had a red label with ECI printed on the label, not blue label as most Magnas and the plug receptacle was different. Has anyone else seen this or is this really strange? The VIN number is 0000297.

Need to know weather it a V6 or a 4 banger ECU are different. If it a V6 motor you got pm TUFFTR I think he got one for sale :) With a 20 yo car anything possible.

That's the ECU I have for sale, I'll have to get a picture of the plugs if you reckon is different.

the TR/TS came with two different plugs for ECU. could it be that OP has the different to usual plug? whats so different about the plug mate? 7/91 verada? maybe onsult Krazy KR and ask nicely if he'll show you his ECU label. could be that the earliest veradas had a diferent ECU

Possibly, I've only ever heard of the TCU's having different plugs.

yeah i mean being that the early veradas wer pretty much magnas with options it would make sense that they have same ECU, but ya never know...

I think mine had a blue label with ECI on it, not a red one. weird...
edit: Maybe the 91 KR's were more special, lol

It a early magna so it might be possible might have a differten ecu to most other magnas. So it might be hard to find one :(
Weren't the KR and KS imported from Japan? Could explain the difference in the ECU from the Magnas. I know my old KS v6xi had all sorts of labels written in Japanese thoughout the engine bay compared with a friends TS Magna.

Nah mate, don't know where you heard that, All magnas/veradas were built here. What kind of labels were written in Japanese? Very possible it had an accident and they replaced many parts with ones from a diamante.

Don't forget Mitsu is a global manufacturer and often initially imports car components for new models of locally made cars when they are first built until local manufacturers of components come on line. Alternators are a good example.

Thats what I meant. They were assembled here from local and imported parts. My old KS was never in an accident. The lables were on the radiator, alternator and some other components.
