Im thinking of buying a 2 x 150 watt RMS response amp to power my front 6 inch pioneer blade splits. At the moment they are running off a boss 4 x 60 watt rms amp, obviously 1 x 60 watt channel each. What are your opinions on the 2 x 150 response amps or response amps in general, Im not trying to go for real real loud sound, but more so just lower volume sound quality, very interested in the response amps as I've heard alot of good things about them, and the the fairly hefty power out put of 2 x 150 watts rms aswell. Suggestions any one?

i heard response amps are using high quality components inside, should be no worries on them, and it's waaayy better than boss.....
but isn't 150wrms is a tad higher than pioneer rate?
The the budget is tight I would look around for better brands second hand. If you can login, this thread may bo of use to you (http://www.caraudioaustralia.com/forums/viewforum.php?f=57&sid=3c39df6983e7283db21468cef6fb2044). :)

Does any one know how much either 2 x 150 rms or 2 x 100 rms response amps sell for brand new?
maybe not brand new, but u could try CAA, maybe even something better than a response! :D

They're powerful and good value amps, but not very high sound quality. The 2x150 is probably best for running a sub; for the same price I would rather buy a higher quality amp that is say 2x50WRMS to run the front speakers.

Agreed, outright power is not everything. With its lack of SQ features, it is very true that it is better suited for a sub.
would u say 2x150wrms is under rating it?
i'm running a 4ch bridged, 160wrms x 2 running my subs. do u think changing to a response 2x150 to run subs and using the current 4 ch to run splits and rear speakers is a good idea?
i have 2 12" svc 4 ohm subs.
lastly, group buy would sound ok...

They'd still have to produce better sound quality then my BOSS amp  .
That doesn't mean they're good dude. :(

Most people here tend to ingnore me when I say time and time again that they should save a little more and get a better quality amplifier. You wouldn't believe how many of you have actually rang me because you're average (not bad - just okay) amplifier has packed it in and you want a better one.
I don't advocate certain brands just because I sell them (I sell Jaycar too). I advocate brands simply because I've been here before and I'd like to see you guys spend your hard earned cash on something that is still going to be pumping in five years from now. ;)

I too am in the market for an amp to power some subs and have also considered a response amp for the job but am still unsure. Budget is pretty tight so it was either going to be a new cheap one or a second hand brand name but am not too keen on spending good money just for a name. so my question is, which is the better option?.......Anyone

The name is very much worth it when it comes to Zapco, Tru -tech, Xtant, PQ etc. The Jaycar is good if you just want an amp that will do but, when you factor in cables etc it will cost a similar amount to get a $300 jaycar as a $600 Audsion. So you will pay extra only on the amp... pick one up on one of FHRX's sales or second hand and it will only cost $150-200 more installed over the jaycar. Then you must ask... should i just get an amp that will do and sound crap.. or spend $150 more to get something that will last. :D
