mate popped around today with their tr magna they have awned for around a year and a half just to compare it to mine ( lacking manhood much) and when i pooped his hood i almost smacked him.

their is oil EVERYWHERE including on the battery, rocket cover, coolant bootle EVERYWHERE.

so tomorrow i will be degreasing and cleaning it ( which i hate doing) to try and find the leak. thing is no sign of oil in the coolant bottle, no milky oil on the oil fill cap and dipstick and spark plugs looked pretty good for a year and a half with a driver who really treats his engines like crap and in that time it has never been serviced.

my question where should i aim my eyes for something this big and just how much damage could it be with that much oil cant take a pic atm as the ex has the camera but was hoping for a general idea before i actually worked on the car. im just shocked at how people can let there cars get this bad. radiator wasnt full but wasnt empty but the coolant bottle was empty making me think the worst and think that he is losing coolant so im thinking it could be a head gasket and i know thats bloody expensive. soz for long post just had a few beers and am really pissed at the thought of a engine being treated like that oh its a 2.4 astron 4 cyl manual

Well you nailed it, give it a degrease and have a look, could be just a rocker cover gasket

cover the alternator and dissy cap if there is going to be water
yep degreaser the whole engine bay

might need a new radiator cap and coolant

the rocker cover from bursons repco or super cheap

then check all the coolant hoses and clamps for condition

like i said i wanted to smack him, theirs just no excuse for not taking care of your car, and to let it fall this far behind is just stupid. everyone wants their car to run sweet but bitch and whinge when something happens to it that could have been avoided if they just took a little care of it
