Hi guys, just wanting to know what our choice of pads are. Just off the shelf items, not pads you can have made up if you supply backing plates.

I was interested in some EBC Red or Green but it seems they don't make them for the 380. Then I thought maybe if I asked overseas for pads for the US Galant but then I remembered that we have different calipers to both types of Galant braking package so that was a dead end.

So far I know about Bendix CT's, Heavy Duty and Ultimates and I think RDA have a pad available. Is there anything else?

No that's it besides genuine which you don't want to do.

I just got all my brakes done today with cut down Hawk ceramic, haven't had a chance to give them a workout yet but the pedal feel is very good.

I've heard of Hawk before as they do the pads used in Brembo's. Good pedal feel is important.

Does anybody have feedback on the RDA pads? I'm thinking of going with RDA slotted rotors, it's just pad choice which is next. Otherwise it's GCT's most likely.

DBA 4000 slotted with Bendix HD or Ultimates would be my choice of combination, and is what I use on my Evo.

I can see that would be a good combo for the Evo as I have 4000's on my Falcon with Ferodo and QFM pads, to which I plan to change to EBC Reds in the future. The 380 is the family car so standard slotted from RDA will do the trick and some pads to suit. This car won't be going near a track or drag strip, just driving around town so only one good stop is needed if there is an emergency, so initial bite from cold is important, not worrying about boiling points of fluid and how long pads will last after extreme braking.

I drove a car with Brembo's once and I was amazed at how little bite it had when cold, I wasn't sure I was going to stop in time. This was with stock Brembo pads so I'm not sure if aftermarket pads designed for the track would have helped.

Anyhow, any feedback on pads for the 380 would be good, it seems we don't have much of a choice.

Pity there isn't another car that shares our calipers.

If you just want pads for the wife for normal driving, GCT's will be fine.

Pajero maybe???

I have front slotted with ultimates and OEM rear with GCTs
It stops REALLY well almost too well

however the Ultimates are DUSTY as HELL like driving into a sandtrap when you brake

I know the Ultimates are the ultimate pad for dust so I'll be steering clear of them. Years ago I thought of putting the Heavy Duties on my XR8 but never did. I haven't used a Bendix pad in years actually.

You don't have a choice now with the 380 unless you want to go custom like I have. For what you require the GCTs would definitely be the go.

It certainly seems that way. As long as they are better than OEM, and along with a slotted rotor it should be fine.

Who's using the GCT's on here?

Shoot has them in his 380 & has said he is very happy with them. I was going to use them too until I found out that they could modify a set of Hawks for me, cost a bit but superior pads.

I am, fronts only, with stock rotors. I don't track my car or push it anything like I used to in my youth (many years ago!), so I've never got the pads or discs hot enough to bring on fade.
The GCTs give reasonable initial bite, they don't need to be warmed up, they are quiet, and they are practically dust free. And they are better in every way AFAICT compared to the stock pads, except maybe for wear. The stock pads are really hard and last forever, but they are noisy squealy things without much initial bite.

So unless you are into fanging it around enough to bring on fade due to heat build up, the GCTs are the way to go.

If you do fang it a bit and you want better fade resistance, and you don't mind masses of dust, go for the Ultimates.

I had Ultimates on my TE V6 (with slotted & drilled DBA 4000 rotors) and I can vouch for their fade resistance & dustiness.

I am not prepared to put Ultimates on any car due to the dustiness and lack of initial bite when cold.

How is the pedal feel with the GCT's?

Pedal feel is fairly good, better than stock, just not as good as Ultimates.

What the dust is great makes my alloys look gunmetal grey

but pedal feel is Super I have confidence in my brakes

It's brake time for the fronts they tell me!

I am looking at some RDA slotted rotors, possibly with the Bendix HD's as the wife is going to start doing some towing so the timing is good to go with that kind of pad.

So from my reading, the Ultimates are Dusty, the GCT's are almost Dust-Free, but what are the HD's like for dust?

The HD's are not dust free, just not as dusty as the Ultimates, which are also pretty harsh on rotors I keep hearing.

GCT's are pretty good, Naf all dust too, but if you play hard in the hills, they are definately not a performance pad, but around town, they are hard too fault.
The only time I overheated mine I was treating them really bad, really really bad. As a plus they get rid of 90% of that lovely 380 brake squeal.
Currently using the 380 GCT Pads on a 380 and a TW.
