As the title states, whats the average price for an exchange steer pump or a new one??
our TS has started shuddering the steering wheel and making chirping noises going round sharp corners and doing 3 point turnes....
any help appreciated!!...

Chirping when the pump is loaded might be a belt that needs tightening or replacing. If you are convinced the pump is faulty they are easy to pull apart so you can confirm it is broken in some way. They have a very simple construction. I pulled a noisy one apart, to find it was perfect. After bleeding the system as per the manual it was fine - after changing the fluid you turn the engine over with the ignition disabled until no air bubbles appear in the reservoir. They rarely give trouble, except for a squealing belt that is loose, glazed or there is air in the fluid. There should be plenty of good ones at the wreckers if you are sure it needs replacing. Look for a dry one, as they can become leaky.
PS Replacing the pump would solve the problem, as you are likely to change belt tension as well when you put it back on. lol
In short, tighten or replace the power steering belt and see if that helps first. If the belt is shiny and has cracks on the ribs its probably the original belt and needs replacing.

thanks for the quick reply!!
havnt actually had a good look at it yet as it only started on the way home from work..
slipping belt would explain the shuddering though the wheel to.
ill probably change all the belts as there probably due anyway. We only bought the car a month ago so it probably needs a good service and going over!!!
haha changed the belt today was totaly shredded!! 3/4 of the ribes were missing!! LOL
that would explain it lol. to anwser your question kinda i bought one recently for the tr i not long bought and it was 40.00 from the wreckers, we only have one wreckers around here and its not big so could be the same, or cheaper i guess from a bigger city wreckers

The condition of the belt tells me:
(1) Its the original belt. They do that at about 200,000 km. lol
(2) The original owner really serviced the car well! (NOT) Maybe you should check the air filter, spark plugs and a few other (neglected) service items too?
yeah when i buy a new car ( new to me i mean :D ) the first thing i do when i get it home is a take some pics and give it a good clean and service always a good idea
