I have read through the manual and all the posts on keyless remote issues.
I am unable to get the verada into programming mode despite following the instructions faithfully.
this is a 97 KE xi

hey mate. mine also stopped working. there are a few things you need to do. firstly take apart the remote to expose the chip. you need check that the battery connections have not become unsoldered. if there have, solder them back up. put the battery back in.

Reprogramming:
put key into ignition and turn to ACC. wait about 5 seconds...
then flick into ON (but dont crank the engine) and wait until the dash lights up (about 2-3 seconds?)
then back to ACC (wait 2secs)
then to ON (2-3seconds)
ACC (2secs)
ON - on the third time you visit ON all indicators will flash once -leave it in ON-.
this is when u press any button on your remote(s). the indicators will flash once for each respective remote upon pressing button.

once you have programmed all your remotes, turn the car OFF :)
your done.

this works for my KJ verada - should be the same though.

I think on 97 models you have to jumper two wires on the obd2 plug

you jump a wire from pin1 on the OBD plug to an earth point, pin 1 is the top left hand corner looking strait at the plug. the key way will not work, trust me.
