Just got hold of a little 4 ch amp today - wondering whether rca or high input is best to use? I take it if you lower the volume on the head unit it's output to rca will also lower (in other words will the volume control of the head unit still work in rca mode)?

Also, I think it may well fit under the centre console. I am worried that it's probably not a good idea with all the ecu's in there? What think you?

Thanks in advance

Simple answers:

RCA is better. Yes the volume of the headunit will control the amps output.

Mounting the amp there could work, you may get a buzzing noise in your system. Under a seat or in the boot is a better location.

What Mr Charisma said, remember to allow some room for the amp to get some air espcialy (spelt wrong) if your amp doesnt have fans

High Inputs can work better in some cases if you have the time i would try both and see which one you like more. Although if you are one of those people that just want to have music and dont like to fiddle around alot with audio, RCA's are much easier so stick with them.

the only benefit of high level input is if you dont have the rca capability to output to an amp.

i would put ya amp in the boot aswel mate, what i did with mine was mount in on some MDF i had and then lifted it off the ground by attaching a wooden...post? sorta thing. looks good and keeps it cool. if ya look in my members ride thread theres pics i think

Im one for mounting amps under the seats, i haven't done it in my car because they are too big but if they could fit under there, trust me they would be under there.
