Hi

I know I've posted about this before but the old horn in the 380 is sticking on again. I've had it fixed twice where they say its shorting out on the steering column. Apparently I got a new steering column last time to the value of about $1800 courtesy of mitsubishi. Sooo does anyone know if this is a problem in other 380's or know of someone who has had this problem or know a mitsi mechanic that might know whats going on....

cheers

'Bout all I can suggest if you've had this fixed at the steering column end , is to have a look at the horn end (front left guard, enter from wheel cavity after unclipping the plastic guards) and see if it's shorting there (i.e. exposed wire touching metal etc.). Sorry , not much help I know, haven't had this problem

thanks for that idea, will look into it, it happened not long after driving over some real wet roads with minor surface flooding so maybe some water got in. Seems strange since I had to cross a flooding bridge a week or more ago and nothing happened then. Will check it out tho.

Found out today that they hadn't actually replaced the steering column yet, they did a clock spring under the airbag to see if it was that first, now its going to be the whole steering column. Also learned today that mitsi have been picking up the tab as an out of warranty repair not the actual dealership who I bought the warranty off....so long may that continue. Apparantly there has been one other 380 in NZ that has done this too and they just replaced the steering column.
