Just wondering if I can switch full struts out of a TS into a TF without any dramas. Anyone done it?

Yes apparently 2nd gen front struts only are fully interchangeable with 3rd gens. Likewise suspension units or just springs too. The rears are not.

Confirmed, Front struts are identical.

Perfect. So it's pretty basic to switch them over just the 3 bolts up top and two down the bottom? Nothing special I need to watch out for?

There might be a few more 10mm nuts if you have ABS but yeah mate, easy as pie.

If your changing whole strut's that's all you need to do, if your taking the springs out, crack the nut on the top underneath the dustcap while it's still in the car, bit easier

Hang on the two models have totally different part numbers even with the after-market struts:

TS : Monroe part no: L&R 37-0291

TF : Monroe parts: Right 350534
Left 350535

So there is no way they are interchangeable.

Mate I'm using 3rd gen struts in the diamante. Same thing.

;1262606']Mate I'm using 3rd gen struts in the diamante. Same thing.

All I'm saying is the part numbers are totally different, which I bet has to do with the coil timing given that left and right are different on the 3rd gen. So no way are they the same if you've made it fit in your Diamante either : a) the Diamante has the same front end as the Aussie spec 3rd Gen or b) you've seriously stuffed your front suspension geometry.

Will the Gallant Springs fit? Maybe but check the spring timing, that is if you look down on the spring and place the start of the spring at 12 o'clock what does the other end read if you where to put a clock face underneath?

Diamante is the same as a TR/TS. And I've used the original springs in them. I understand part numbers are different for one reason or another but if he needs struts as has 3rd gen ones, They'll fit in!

Got the strut unbolted but can't get the thing holding the brake fluid hose off. Any suggestions?

Nice to know! Next time I visit u-pull-it I will be looking for some 3rd gen low km struts for my TS! Got to be cheaper than new ones. lol

Yeah, i found a set of near new monroe GT gas struts off a 2nd gen for the old KE, fitted perfect, and cost me $13 each. I used my original springs to be sure spring rates were the same, although there was no difference between the two models when they were removed. with the 30M having multilink front suspension, i cant interchange with aussie magnas/diamantes anymore, but i can with legnums.
