View Full Version : 95 EI KS wagon
Im looking to buy one, and have noticed a few problems. The electric sunroof doesnt close all the way unless you hold the little metal flap at the front down, and remote unlocking causes the door locks to "jiggle" up and down for a while.
Power windows all work, im yet to check cruise, A/C, and heater.
Does anyone know what the likely causes and likely fixes are of the sunroof and locks, or anything else to look for? The accelerator feels a bit too tight, the owner said it was recently tightened from being too loose.
Cheers.

The locks are an easy fix, the drivers door actuator is getting worn and needs to be changed
The sunroof, you will really need to check the roof closely, I would say there is some wear on the metal part as usually as the roof closes it pushed that down, may be as simple as some lubrication with some lithium based greese
Usual checks are oil leaks, mainly rocker covers and head end seals. Check for smooth trans operation and ensure fluid is clean. Check the abs reservoir under the LHS inner guard, is where the washer bottle usually is on the non abs models, if the level is low the unit needs replacing, these CAN NOT be topped up.
Rust you will be fairly right with these, the sedans are known to rust around the tail lights but the wagons are ok
Of course check brakes, steering suspension but take into account that hte car is now 15 years old when you look it over

The metal flap on the sunroof rides on small plastic blocks that wear out, had the same problem on my KS and made my own as they are no longer available, they used to cost about $50 each.

If you need some parts from a ks verada wagon I know where one is :)
The owner has $3k in receipts from city dismantlers and says it has a low kms transmission installed, new discs, new front struts, new or recon driveshafts. I also need to check if the sunroof leaks i think, before it gets parked in the rain if i buy it.
edit: is the abs resivour different to the brake fluid one?

Yes it is, it's located on front of the inner l/h guard just behind the head light and it's suppose to be sealed for life.

i have the same problem with my sunroof, for a minute, i thought you were talking about my car... its hard to explain as to why it doesn't close up on its own without assistance, but other then that, its works without leak.
