EDIT: STEALING TUFFS IDEA ON TEMPLATE :D
Brand - castrol
Type - gtx2

RRP - $25
Good/bad points - pretty average oil actually
What you were using before (If you've changed brand/type/viscosity) - this is the oil i have been using, looking for something abit fresher

Why don't you go by a template like this?
Brand - Penrite
Type - HPR15
Viscosity - 15w-50
RRP - $35
Good/bad points - Good oil pressure, 32-40psi on idle when warn, about 70-80psi when cold on idle
What you were using before (If you've changed brand/type/viscosity) - Was using Castrol Edge 5w-30 but the <10psi warm idle didn't sit well with me, wanted something thicker so the motor retained some sort of oil pressure.

Brand - Penrite
Type - HPR30
Viscosity - 20w-50
RRP - $37.95
Good/bad points - Lasts more than 5,000 km before I hear tappets, generally stays a bit thicker with age and temp.
What you were using before (If you've changed brand/type/viscosity) - Was using Castrol GTX2 but the death of a Ford 6 and the rings on two Sigma motors told me ease up on the foot or use a good oil. I was advised to use it by my dad who has used it for donkey's years. Dunno more expensive but from what I've seen holds up better than cheaper oils.

Brand - Penrite
Type - HPR40
Viscosity - 25w-70
RRP - around 35-40
Good/bad points -
Good - Extra ten protection, basically the second number in the rating relates to the time it takes for the oil to break down and thin out in an engine. I found with hi K's (348k) the longer my oil held is proper weight the longer i would get out of a litre. This used with a swellant additive (Nulon ESL or Liqui Moly Engine Resealer) gave me the least smoke out of any combos i had tried over the last 2 years.
Cons - A bit thick, can be a little straining on the oil pump.

It could well change the way you think about putting thick oils in your engine.
