will be doing some rewiring while the carpet and door trims are out of the car for the new stereo and am having picking what wiring to use sizes / brands etc

im thinking just 10awp speaker wire and a 4gauge amp kit but im struggling to pick a brand and confirm my choice of sizing.

sterio is going to be a set of middle range clarion splits for the front door with tweets in the 4" dash slot, 6" 2 way coaxs for the parcel shelf, and 2x 12" middle range clarion subs in a custom enclosure.

plan is to find a way to mount the amps in the boot behind a fake wall that also covers the subbox.

my question, should i buy two amp kits and run a seperate power lead to each amp straight fromt he battery or just use a t box. also what brands have people found to be better off for both amp and speaker wire. there will be one 4 channel amp powering a sub and a set of speakers and the other amp powering the other sub and other set of speakers and i dont mind paying for better cables now to avoid having to do any futre wiring work.

oh in the boot, what are people using for the amp earth points ( my car is 2nd gen) i know get some clean metal and attach, just wondering what people were using
soz about the blubbering on and bad spelling am tired and about to go to bed once the bubs falls back asleep

i would suggest running 1 amp for both subs, bridge 4 channel into 2 channel and use the other 4 channel for the 4 speakers. This allow you adjust bass indepandant of the middle and upper ranges. this will be good to dial in the speakers via the headunit also, as you wont have to mess around with the bass/trebble functions much if at all on the source unit as there are always con's to quality when you play with this function. All the dialling in can be done via the amps so all you need to do is set it up to a sweet spot at a specific volume level.

if you are going to t-junction use 2awg from the battery to the boot and junction from there. THere will be a lot of draw and usiung 4awg could see fuses going or bass clipping and ruining your hardwork. Sounds like a good go though. Very well thought out

I agree with lynel, I'd be using 2 gauge wire to your boot, then 4 gauge to each amp. Aerpro (http://www.ryda.com.au/Aerpro-MX002-1500W-Amp-Power-Wiring-Kit-2GA-p/mx002.htm) make a kit that does that - all you need is some 4 gauge to run between the distribution blocks and the amps.

There's nothing wrong with Aerpro wiring at all. On an install like yours, I'd stick to Aerpro all-round.

If you haven't already bought your gear, you'd be better off buying a 4 channel for the speakers, and a monoblock for the two subs.

As for the brand of wire it doesnt really matter too much except for the price, Aerpro would be my choice cheap and proven to do the job !
