View Full Version : Can Hear Aircon Working but No Air Coming Out Of Vents - KE

Having a problem with my KE Verada's aircon and can't find a solution in the other threads I've searched through.
I can hear the aircon in my car working but no matter what fan speed I use, next to no air is coming out of the vents. The windscreen and feet vents have no air coming out them at all and only a small amount comes out of the centre vent and driver's side vent.
I've seen the thread about broken climate control vent mechanisms / clips located near the drivers side footwell, checked mine and it looks like the mech works when I press the buttons. If I switch the climate control from the centre vents to windscreen vents it seems to close off the centre vent, but then no air is coming out of any of the other vents.
Any ideas how I fix?

does your fan work with out the air con on check to see if it works on all speeds if it only works on lower noit higher could be the resister under the glove box or if not working at all very little would be youe blower unit also below the glove box
you can test this just give the motor a whack to see if it will go if it does you know time for a new blower motor happened to me

Have had what sounds to be a similar problem in my car. Air con switches on but the fan motor does not. Like robceline said, remove the plastic cover beneath the glovebox which exposes the base of the motor. Give the base of the motor a tap/hit with a rubber mallet or your fist. When I do this, my fan motor comes back to life immediately and works fine but I have to do this perhaps every few months or so. Given you have a Verada this won't work, but in non-climate control, moving the fresh/recirculate lever left and right with some force can also turn the fan motor on.

robceline and Billy, thanks for the replies.
The fan works with and without the aircon on, I mean I can hear the fan and if I adjust the fan speed I can hear the fan speed up or slow down, but no air comes out of the vents regardless of the fan speed I select.
So does that mean the resister and the blower motor are working?

What might be happening is the air mix motor is dead. This has happened to mine and was replaced under warranty. The air mix motor controls where the air goes. Most likely in your situation, it may be coming out of the foot well or windscreen instead.

The air is not coming out of either the footwell on the drivers side or the windscreen, could be coming out of the passenger side footwell I've never checked so I'll check that tonight when I get home.

never had any experience with this part of a car, but is it possible the motor is working, but it's no longer spinning the actual fan blade thingy? is there a clutch on these, a chance the blades could be destroyed by foreign material?
The air mix motor is only fitted to cars with climate control and not standard A/C. Mine initially cut in and out and eventually stopped working. Do a google search on air mix motors to learn more about it.

I've played around a bit with the aircon tonight, looks like I've posted some misleading info (sorry guys)
Basically I've tried all the air directions tonight and got the following results when air direction was set to:
- all vents, a tiny amount of air comes out of the centre/side vents works, a tiny amount out of the footwell vents and nothing from windscreen vents (regardless of fan speed)
- centre/side vents only, then a tiny amount of air comes out of the centre/side vents only
- footwell vents only, air flow comes out the correct vent and is a lot stronger than any other setting (not 100% airflow but it is reasonable)
- windscreen only, air flows out of the footwell vent instead (nothing at all out of the windscreen vents)
- centre/side + windscreen vents, a tiny amount out of centre vent nothing from other vents
- centre/side + footwell vents, same as the 'all vents' setting above
When I say tiny amount of air flow, I mean you need to put you hand in front of the vent to have any idea if air is coming out.
Vlad, I'll do some research on air mix motors. Thanks
Anyone know a good air con guy in Sydney who knows Magnas / Veradas?

It is sound more and more like the air mix motor. Just ask your local Mitsubishi service centre and ask how much it is to replace.
