Hello All

Was installing the front splits yesterday and noticed that the tweeter has a choice of connections on the actual splitter box.
Either 3db or 0db. The speakers are Jaycar Response CS2338.
Looking at the install diagram there are solid lines to the 0db and dotted lines to the 3db, indicating preferred choice and alternative choice I assume?
Can some one please educate me on what the difference is?
Is it possible that if the 0db posts are used, anothe speaker can be run of the 3db posts?

Its just an attenuator, if you set the gains correctly 0db will be fine, as for the tweeter attenuator i always find that setting the tweeters to -3db works wonders !

It is there because running 2 different size speakers off 1 power output ( i.e. an amp / headunit ) won't generally give you the best signal response depending on tweeter location.

The idea is to make the tweeter and woofer blend in. Obviously a woofer needs more power than a tweeter to get loud. This means that the tweeter will have attenuator settings on most passive xovers to allow for this.

You will notice if you change the setting to -3db, the tweeter will have slightly less output. Might also be worth changing the phase on the tweeter ( have the woofer +ive to +ive and -ive to -ive from the xover, and +ive to -ive and -ive to +ive from the xover to the tweeter ) as well to improve on / off axis response. Might sound better, might not - but it only takes 2 minutes to do.

Sorry to chime in a bit late, you might find these speakers really bright, the -3Db should be the go, and a bit of - treble on the haed unit gain as well.

Owns 2 sets of CS2338's
