Got my new wheels and tyres (ta alscall), mechanic said wheel alignment done via the tyre shop.

When I take a corner at speed (80+km) it feels unsafe, like there is a wind buffeting the car. I suspect that the thrust alignment is out. So I ring the tyre shop and Mr Couldn'tBeLessHelpful explained he had no idea what I was on about and he just does what the 'machine' tells him. I have no more $ to spend on the beast and I feel this should have bean dealt with at the time of it's wheel alignment. Should I confront Mr Couldn'tBeLessHelpful and demand he fix it? Or should I explain the problem and pay for an adjustment? Or even better, can I do it myself?

Note: I swapped the spare with the front right, which had a rash. All tyres were new/identical and balanced so no problem there. I imagine this could have changed the alignment slightly..

Swaybars - according to wiki, one of the TF variants has a factory bar. Just wondering if it will fit a TE no problems and would it be worth doing in terms of < ride comfort and > handling? Never had one before so complete nub..

Thanks in advance..

I'm not sure what a thrust alignment is either :s

Why not ask the guy to take it for a drive and see if he can diagnose what's causing the problem? Are you positive that it's not something else like suspension or tyres? When you say that you're taking the corner at speed, are you talking about regular high-speed driving, or purposely giving it a bit of a hoon?

Swaybars shouldn't affect ride comfort too much. They make a fair difference to handling. 3rd gen suspension is interchangable so it'll fit fine, just make sure you get the model that's for non-sway bar equipped cars. If you haven't had your car lowered, I'd do that first though, since it'll improve looks as well as handling (plus if you have a TE, there's a fair chance it's up for replacement anyway).

Thanks for the advice Valdez. Tyres new, suspension checked a month ago, all good. The car has done this since i've had it and behaves poorly in corners - well before any squeelies start ;) Here's a good image re thrust alignment - http://www.google.com.au/imgres?imgurl=http://www.jaxquickfit.com.au/working_alt/body/ACE/premium.gif&imgrefurl=http://www.jaxquickfit.com.au/ACE-alignment.htm&usg=__rz69QefaFsiTWR_IoH_IIMcM6uw=&h=229&w=361&sz=8&hl=en&start=10&um=1&itbs=1&tbnid=WXJCkOc3Rq-7eM:&tbnh=77&tbnw=121&prev=/images%3Fq%3Dthrust%2Balignment%26um%3D1%26hl%3Den %26safe%3Doff%26rlz%3D1G1GGLQ_ENAU356%26tbs%3Disch :1

Good idea about getting the guy to drive it. Just have to find a good demo corner!

What do you mean exactly by "3rd gen suspension is interchangable so it'll fit fine, just make sure you get the model that's for non-sway bar equipped cars"? Do I get a swaybar specifically for the TE you mean?

Thanks
