Hey,

Searched but could not find.

Anybody aware of what LED's would be suitable for the interior lighting?
Also a LED for the boot light?

Thanks.

Jaycar sell some, grab yours and take it in to measure it up.. not all stores have them have previously found them in the Rockingham Store on Dixon Road, but might be at other ones.

Also, does anybody have a link or know the best/quickest way to access the globes inside the front interior ceiling lighting?

thanks.

The stuff Jaycar sells is pretty weak, what you need are high powered SMD LEDs. And the more LEDs on each fitting the better, until you get to ridiculous numbers such that the fitting wont fit any more.

Just search eBay using the term SMD LED, you'll get heaps of hits.

I got mine from a Hong Kong seller, nice & cheap but delivery was a bit slow. No problems with quality (yet!).

For the front map lights you'll need a pair of T10 wedges. I have 12 LED (three on each of the four sides) ones in mine & they work a treat.

A little tricky to get in though as they are too 'fat' for the opening (due to having four rows of LEDs), you need to hold the bulbs inside the mounting hole then slide the connectors onto them from the outside. But if klumzy klutz me can do it anyone can!

For the main dome light you'll need a single 43mm festoon, go for as many LEDs as will fit (I think I have 16 on mine).

For the boot light you'll need a 31mm festoon, again with multi LEDs. I haven't done this myself yet, and Michael (Maggie3.5) reckons you'd need something stronger still to get decent light, either multi LED strips or a monster LED array block.

With all of them you have a wide choice of colours. I prefer the 'xenon' bright white for the interior lights, but you might prefer blue or whatever, your choice.

For links see my earlier post - just plug 'SMD LED' into eBay. Sellers come & go, I couldn't find the mob I bought mine from.

The globes are dead easy to access, and I think there is a thread here about it somewhere, but here's some pointers anyway:

For the rear (dome) light use a small screwdriver (with a cloth pad to prevent scratching) and simply lever the front edge of the cover open. Or it could be the back edge, can't remember off hand, have a good look first and you'll see which it is. The cover then just pops off and the globe is simple to get at & replace.

For the front map lights, the whole console clips into the roof via four fairly strong metal clips. Slip you fingers under sides of the front (window) edge of the console and forcefully but carefully pull it down. Then pull the rear down the same way. The whole thing pops out of the roof and hangs by the wiring. You can then see how the T10 wedge bulbs fit and how to remove & replace them.

15 LED festoon works a treat for main cabin light, 6 LED for boot. Got mine off ebay (no retailers in Armidale that stock them).
