I just got a sub and don't know wheres a good plcae to put it. I have a gas tank to I can't put it up close to the rear seats. I tried to put it on the side, so I can have access to the spare tyre when needed but I can't shut the boot because the boot arm hit the top of the sub. Any ideas?

all the info you need
u can read all the facts, and listen to everyone's opinions which is all fine and good.......but at the end of the day u just have to experiment and see what u think sounds best.
I spent an hour or so moving my sub-box all over the boot, ski-hole open/shut and found what i thought was the best sounding position. 8-inches from the back of the boot facing outwards with ski-hole open.

then there are ppl like me who have experimented with port open, closed, facing backwards, forwards, angled up backwards, angled up forward, directly up, directly down and has NO DIFF AT ALL! i'm sure there is, but i just can't hear it

Personaly i was going to score a square 12 inch kicker and mount it into the ski hole...

Mmmmm, that was my plan when I found out that a 10" in the parcel shelf was a bad idea. Problem for me was $$$$$, but I think if you can do a really good job on the install, this setup would look the business. Just make sure it sounds the absloute best you can make it sound, because there'll be no boot to hide the quality of the sub.
Of course, this setup is useless to stealthnitro due to the gas tank. For that problem it sounds like Samurai has the best option, just whack on some banana plugs (or something similar) and mount the amp somewhere other than on the sub-box, so then you can remove the sub-box when you need to get to the spare tyre. Having said that, bye bye useable boot space, although with a gas tank, you're probably used to that.

that was teh exact same thing that sparked me to get subs too! i was gonna put a 10" facing ski port....look at me now, 2 12" round subs, sealed box facing backwards....

facing forwards through the ski hole will not sound anywhere near as loud as facing it backwards. Facing the front gives a difference note, however some people like it :doubt:

Facing the front gives a difference note, however some people like it :doubt:You mean frequency response. A note (unless it is a pure sine wave) will be made up of several combined frequencies (called harmonics), basic sound theory. Sorry for the nit-pick, but this is one of my pet hates, sorry.

haha, yeh when i wrote it i knew there was a good chance someone was going to elaborate what i was trying to say a bit further using some rather more detailed technical terms lol
