ok first of all the reason im looking into this is because 1. my piston rings have had it and im starting to blow blue smoke and 2.my lifters just WONT STOP GOD DAM TICKING ANYMORE

OK YES! i know there are post on here about this but i just cant find wat im looking for, so if you could either post up the link to the thread about it or just answer that be much appreciated

OK SOO

iv got a 3.0L 4speed TIPTRONIC with crusie... now im condsidering putting the 3.5L engine in, now my question is...is a 3.5L bolt straight up to the 3.0 box

is different year model 3.5L different specs?

does it plug staright into the ecu i got now?

is there any modifications needed?

when getting the engine what should i be getting with it?

would it be smart to get the box to go with it that way its 5 speed, but then how would the trip tronic work, and with the box is it just the gear ratios? that are different

Tuffy, your right, there are a lot of old threads out there about engine conversions and 3.0 to 3.5 conversions, but cuicdl has some specific questions he's looking for feedback on.
Are they all answered in the above linked threads? If not, can anyone (more mechanical than me) answer his questions?

just have 2 simple questions now

1. to re-wire the new engine is it all cop and solder or is it plug in plug out type of thing

2. if i dont change the ecu's over or i dont put a after market emangment(eg. unichip) is it bad for the engine/box or over long period of time?

answer to Q1 no its all plug in, except for the injector loom? from memory, but you will need to swap over the parts, if you have a complete 3.5L engine it will have everying on it you need, and you will take anything thats not plug over from your 3.0L
Q2, no it will run fine, i did a write up, search for "lowriders 3.5L and manual conversion"

In the mean time mate at your next oil change, use a thicker oil and find some Nulon performance engine treatment. My engine ticks and rattles like a bastard when coming up to oil changes, after new oil and the nulon stuff its quiet and smooth as. Just a temporary fix till you figure out what to do with your engine. Another idea might be to just upgrade the car...

yer well i did do the nulon additive i also used thicker oil i also utryed using 2 different brands of tappet/lifter conditioner treatments BUT NOTHING WORKED ... IT TICKING 24/7 NOW ... but with this conversion i guess it will also give me something to do and learn some more stuff

thats very true. with the cruise control, you just use the same TB and intake plenum off your 3.0L engine.

It's not too hard, just take your time. If you haven't done this type of thing before, take photos just in case you can't remember how something goes back.
Where are you located?
