Hey guys,

At the moment i am running some Rallairt Enkei Rims, not too bad, but not a fan of the Width and Offset

Im looking at buying some 17x8's or 17x9's

Anyway, i came across these babies

size : F 8Jx17 inch offset +47 R 9Jx17 inch offset + 475 hole 114.3

According to my Calculations (assuming the stock is 17x7 +46?)

Fronts (17x9) - Less inner clearance by 26mm, pokes out by 24mm more
Rear (17x8) - 14mm less inner and poke out by 12mm more

Rears should fit no worries.. dont care about that

But the less inner clearance in the inside could be a worry?

At the moment im running KYBs + King Lows

Sticking out of the guards a bit isnt a worry at all, can sort that out, but the inner clearance really cant be changed

Thoughts?

Its not so much the rims that will cause problems but what tyres you fit on it. Tyres are generally wider than the rims. I pressume you currently have 225/50R17 tyres and would like to fit 235/45R17 tyres which by the way, are 2.2% smaller in OD then the 225/50R17 and much smaller (3%) than the stock 215/60R16 tyres.
Therefore:
235/45R17 on 17x8 or 17x9 => sticks out further by 4mm and in further by 6mm.

I think 9" wide rims will be illegal for you - I tried to find the rules for Vic Roads, but can't - their website is crap!

the NSW rules limit rims on FWD and AWD to be up to 8" wide or whatever the manufacturer spec is. If the stock width is < 7" or less you can add 1" width.

This SMH article confirms that you can only go 1" wider than standard: http://smh.drive.com.au/fitting-bigger-wheels-and-tyres-20090806-eaqi.html

So check your tyre placard - if it lists 7" wide wheels, then you can go to 8" and I find there's heaps of wheels to choose from at that size.

In fact, even 235 tyres should fit on a 7" wide rim, so why not look for 17x7 s? They'd probably be a bit lighter too.

Do a search for other peoples experiences with wheel offsets. There's at least 2 threads listing what everyone has or has tried and how well they fit.
I think +47 will sit way inside the guards and may foul internal components (suspension).

235/45R17 is not recommended fitment to 17x7 rims. Need 7.5" rim minimum. 235/50R17 can due to extra sidewall height and flex.
9" is too wide. Also, +47 offset is fine according to wheel master. 225/50R17 on 17x7 with +46 is oem for ralliart, vrx etc so fitting 235/45R17 on 17x8 with +47 offset means it is 6mm closer to suspension and 4mm further out. Front should be ok. Check current rear clearance using your fingers to see how much room there is with the upper suspension arm. Unless yours is an AWD, I think there should also be plenty of room.

Will also need to took at the rear control arms, from memory you will need a ralliart or vrx control arm when fitting wider tyres on a lowered car

He has a TJ Sports which I presume has the suspension components the same as a VRX.

But I'm pretty sure it has a vrx rear end in it. Regardless the rims in question I'm no longer gonna buy

They seem ok but I am gonna go back to 225/50/17 when they wear out to get the diameter right. I used to have some 19" rims with +48 offset with 235/35/19 tyres with no rubbing just a bit of camber issue on a TJ Sports.

Most likely fitted by doggy fitters. Just because it came with it does not mean its right.
