Or if you had the battery off it's probably showing "S" - waiting for you to confirm the car is a sedan, then tell it what size engine you have.

That just means your car batts were disconnected.

Thing is, if you press mode once more it gives you one other option.

Not sure what that is, but I selected that since I assumed 5 meant, is this 5 speed?

The logic behind that is after you hold mode on 5, it gives you the option of 3.5 or 3, aka your engine size.

Since my cars a 4 speed auto I went with the other option when 5 was given to me.

The "5" you are seeing is a "S" for sedan or "W" for wagon. If you selected "W" then your trip computer will be out , I think the fuel tank size differs between sedan and wagon.

Correct, you have either

"S" (is a 5) for sedan
"W" for wagon (different size tank, range to empty will be wrong)

Then the engine size

All the time when you reconnect the battery you need to "tell" (keeping presed mode button)to your ecu your car is a "S" form sedan or "W" from wagon, then you need to select 3.5 or 3.0 if your engine is 3.5 or 3.0 l

Yea, I was being a little lazy at time of post. When the battery is disconnected, dead, or fuse pulled the trip meter will reset. It will start showing either "5 for Sedan" or "W for Wagon" - Press mode to switch between these, hold to select.

Next menu will be 3.0 or 3.5 (again, press to switch, hold to select)

Once you have selected properly it will go back to normal.

Ah, I guess I've been driving a wagon for a few days.

Anyway to reset trip computer without disconnecting batteries?
