Penrite HPR10 or HPR15. Depends on condition of engine, if its not burning/using oil when cold, go with the Penrite HPR10. The 3.5 seem to really like this oil.

Using HPR15 in the TR and it's perfect for it. Nice hot idle of about 30-35psi.

HPR10 is semi synthetic, so it is a blend of both. I use HPR10 and agree with Dave it works well.

hpr10 will be good for the engine, if its in fair or better condition. if its smoky, rattly, etc, maybe a thicker oil would be better. hpr10 is quite a versatile oil though.

Ive recently changed from Castrol Edge 5w30 to HPR10 (as MadMagna swears by it) and instantly I noticed that the car no longer wants to take off, when you plant it it seems to just slowly rev up like an Ecotec engine rather than just dropping a gear or 2 and spinning up. Ill be going back to Edge next change, or I may try HPR5 instead as Mal seems to swear by Penrite and I trust his word.

I used castrol edge 5-30w in the old 3.5 as it had low kms and got the best fuel economy, and i think performance although that would be hard to pick. In the 30M i use Valvoline 10-40w VR1 racing as ive heard good things about it, and the car has done 180,000km. plus it has extra zinc antiwear additives.
