Hey guys, sorry if this has already being covered, I did a search but couldn't find anything.

But does anyone know/or has anyone changed the colour of the digital clock on their dashboard? I wanted to change mine to red to match the dials.

My car is a TL VR-X

Cheers

Behind the clock and set into it, is a T10 Bulb. IIRC there is no coloured sheath over it, the clock gets its colour from the numbers themselves.
If you put a red sheath over it or colour the globe red, I think it will still have that tint of green about it.

Use this guide to get off the surround. Don't remove the stereo. But undo the two screws either side of the clock, The T10 Bulb pulls out with a twist.

Easy Peasy, Ease (http://i228.photobucket.com/albums/ee217/SH00T/IMG_0224.jpg) out the gear surround ( includes P/W controls and Cup holders), Prying (http://i228.photobucket.com/albums/ee217/SH00T/IMG_0225.jpg) upwards all around and it comes off, the very front is the only bit that doesnt unclip. that slots in at the front, Disconnect (http://i228.photobucket.com/albums/ee217/SH00T/IMG_0226.jpg) the Power window connection plug,
Apply hand brake, Chock if not on level ground, Place car in neutral and pull surround sliding to the rear of the car.
This is the hardest bit, removing the compartment above where the cup holders were. With the lid open place palms facing upwards Gripping (http://i228.photobucket.com/albums/ee217/SH00T/IMG_0227.jpg) as well as you can manage (http://i228.photobucket.com/albums/ee217/SH00T/IMG_0228.jpg) with both hands ( dont grab the door) and pull to rear of the car. This exposes (http://i228.photobucket.com/albums/ee217/SH00T/IMG_0229.jpg) two screws to remove and the last panel prys (http://i228.photobucket.com/albums/ee217/SH00T/IMG_0231.jpg) off. Disconnect (http://i228.photobucket.com/albums/ee217/SH00T/IMG_0232.jpg) aircon controls, hazard lights and air temp sensor. And the bracket holding in the stereo is right before you, take (http://i228.photobucket.com/albums/ee217/SH00T/IMG_0232-1.jpg) care with the top screws, they require a metal clip to secure themselves and are likely to jump off when reattaching. Tape them in place.....

Normally a light shines onto the LCD panel from behind, there is normally a coloured bit of plastic that gives the clock it's colour, or coloured LED's a used.

When I have done it in the past I have removed the coloured plastic and replaced it with one or two bits of normal white paper cut to size and either coloured condoms on the lights or coloured LED's. The white paper spreads the light out more evenly so you don't get bright and dim spots.
