the latest issue is that the front brakes seem to clunk a bit when you get to low speeds. could this be as simple as worn pads or is it more likely that the discs are out or round? it isn't a problem yet as the car still stops fine but makes me a bit weary every time i notice it.
one issue i did have the other day was when i was coming up to traffic lights in the wet and they went amber so i braked heavy (could have just accelerated a bit and made it easily but im a bit more conservative in the magna). when i got down to about 10ks the front brakes locked up and i slid the last meter and ended up just over the line. im wondering weather this could be connected to the brakes clunking at low speed. maybe they grabbed at low speed because the disk is out of center or something?
thanks allot

ABS on your car? I guess not seeing its a gen 1. Warped discs will give you uneven braking and pulsation feeding back through the pedal. Perhaps its time to strip the front brakes down and check that the pads are in good condition and the rotors are ok? Check that the shims are in place on the pads and lubricate the guide pins. You might want to pop out the pistons and clean out the caliper bores and check them for wear. If your brake fluid in the reservoir is dark, there is a good chance there is a lot of rubber debris in the caliper bores and this can make the movement of the piston uneven when you brake. Reassemble with new fluid and bleed. They will feel and act like new.

Locking up just before the line might have more to do with the road than your brakes. In the wet oil dumped from cars over the years while idling at a red light comes to the surface and makes that section of the road very slippery. Something to watch out for, especially if you are on a motorbike. lol

your right that it would defiantly benefit from a disassembly and clean up but I don’t have the confidence to diy it. I don’t know wether I will register the car strait away or wait a while till i have money and need it. If that is the case I will have a go myself because I will have a good 6 months to do so. otherwise i think i might take it into a shop to get it done. what am i looking at for this type of work in a shop? is it worth machining discs or is it just as cheep to buy the $50 ones off eBay?
for now i might take of a wheel and have a look.
thanks
